Convergence Panels
beer, meetmeme, Backyard
mattmn just posted the link to the Convergence Schedule - where michaellee hosts it :

Fri 12:30pm - 1:30pm Edina TV Anime Essentials 101 aka "The First Hit Is Free!"
Thinking about dipping your toes into the worlds of anime fandom? Wondering what 'all the kids are going on about?' Have you been trying to get your friends into this fandom? Join us as we take the first steps into an all-consuming addiction.

Fri 3:30pm - 4:30pm Bloom Movies Star Wars Prequels: Ten Years On
Where's the love? Have you come over to the Dark Side and embraced the power of the prequels? How have these films aged and do they stand the test of time?

Fri 6:30pm - 7:30pm A7 Science Digital Distribution Debate
Some say the Blu-Ray era will be very short-lived as everyone moves to digital downloads. Is this true? iTunes and physical CDs have co-existed nicely over the past six years - will that model hold true for video media? Do we currently have the telecommunication and storage infrastructure to support 50 GB downloads?

Sat 12:30pm - 1:30pm A8 HotDish Evolution of Social Networking
From local bulletin board forums, newsgroups, and mIRC to the modern labyrinth of FaceBook and MySpace, how have message boards changed over time? You may be surprised that some of your old haunts aren't as abandoned as you think!

Sun 11:00am - 12:00pm A7 Science Current State of A.I.
How far off is SkyNet? Do we need to start worrying about the Internets taking over? What are some positive advances in artificial intelligence development?

I am on a panel with Chewbacca! Squeee! Oh, yeah.

Chewbacca! What a Wookiee!

Oh, it's mattmn's schedule -- it's just hosted on my site (because the technology was built there...the whole programming infrastructure needs to be redone, but it works..)

Thanks! I rephrased it...

Hey, I put a lot of hard work into that schedule - thanks for giving credit where credit is due, lol. Just think, there were over a hundred panels that I wrote descriptions for that didn't even make the grid!

You can tell that it's my schedule because I have absolutely no conflicts the entire weekend. You can look hour by hour and pretty much tell, based on my interests, which panel I'll be hanging out in after I do my panel/programming rounds at the top of every hour.

ETA: Hey, I gotta have some perks to the job, right?
